Why? Why? Why?

A funny incident:

I was at the supermarket the other day. There was this young girl. She was on her mobile, talking, and giggling away as she walked up and down the aisle that I was in. Then suddenly, RIIIIIINNNNNGGGGGG!!!! her mobile rings while its on her ears supposedly talking to someone...

LOooOOOooOOOOooOOL!

You just had to see her face....red with embarresment! Why do they do that? Pretend to speak on the phone? If you are that desperate....call anyone up and spark up a random conversation! What..everyone she knows were too busy to talk to her?

Awww... she was trying to get your attention! How cute (and lame) is that. 'Look at how sophisticated and cool I am handsome older man, as I walk up and down the aisle begging you to notice me and my exciting life!' Being a teenager is traumatic. ;-)

LOL CRAP!! but wait, desperate?? why would she be on the phone to show you she's desperate?! no I think it's the other way around, I think she wants you to think this girl is NOT available but I will make her mine anyway, hehe yeah that also is desperate isn't it..

7aram she's trying to look busy but she isn't smart!
In other situations I need to fake some calls so I dial 113 and talk to the "guy" who tells the time. Now, this is smart!

BWAHAHAHAHA!!

Should i say poor girl? Nah! Gabetoh l nafsaha!

So what did you do?! Did u just look the other way? Or did you laugh in her face? Or did you like, not do anything at all?!

I would've opted for: "Laughed in her face" HAHAHA!

Hey Jazzy! 7aram maskeena iksirat kha6ry :( I would have died on the spot.
A similar incident happened to me once and i was mortified... ashwa noone noticed. You see I was in one my talkative moods and telling my cousin about something that had just happened, i was so engrossed with the salfa and yap yap yapping away that i didnt realise that the phone had disconnected by itself and my cousin called back! Lol! Ashwa it was on beep once!
So maybe that was the case?

Oh, and sometimes u press send when calling someone, and u miss or something, and u have the phone on ur ear waiting for the dial tone and nothing...? Your so busy multi-tasking that u dont notice that ur just holding the phone to ur ear and not talking? Heheh happens to me A LOT!

Pappy, I call the 113 guy too! :P Try the weather guy...its longer. :P Hehehe

Sorry for the way too long comment.

wv: smenita (something spanish! wv-guy is back from his vacation in Spain!)

Tata Botata: You think so? Bas she was toooo young for me to do that. Even though, I'm not into that kharabeet6

Unknown Entity: LOL..In my point of view, how does someone on the phone means "notice me, I'm available"...to me, since she's on the phone, she's busy!

spontaneousnessity: yeah, desperate in both cases

Stallion: Mal3oon, what you doing in campus in salmiya? Hmmm?

nomaadic: hehehehe...speaking out of experience are we?

papillona: LOL...the 113 guy? Did you do that before? Laish? How bored were you?

chocolicious: I did laugh, but not out loud, I just turned my face the other way?

Ms. Milk: maybe, could be, but why cant she call someone she knows instead. I dont beleive that everybody she knows is busy.

Sou: I did laugh, but not to her face. She was already embarresed.

charisma: because I'm gorgeous!!! hehehehe...i seriously dont know.

3baid: thats a new one..."cheating with the phone"...how practical

mcarabian: I laughed and turned away and went to the other aisle. Could I flatter myself and say that I am good looking? I dunno...Stallion...what you think? :P

Delicately Realistic: hehehehe...it happened to me too when I was on the phone with someone and talking away, without realizing that the conversation got disconnected and I just went on and on and on. I thought to myself..."wow, this person is really a good listener" How dumb I felt when I realized it was dead air!

snookie: la 7aram...but it was funny

Jazz, It's not about being bored. It's about keeping the line busy or keep other people "waiting" *evil grin*

Del-real, I guess we have a lot in common ;) The weather guy? "longer"? LOL what's his #? hehehe

JC!!! It's ME!! :) It's been a while since I've snuck up on your blog. Regarding this supermarket chickie, it's a classic case of young Kuwaiti girls who just can't be seen "alone" (even in a damn supermarket) and so have to pretend to be on the phone or whatever. I remember the days when I first moved back from the States and would sit in a coffee shop alone reading or writing and people used to look at me like I was insane (or rather..."maskeena!"). Thank god that's changing now. Anyway, either that or she really was interested and yes you can definitely flatter yourself and say you're that good looking!!

I was just looking through your recent posts and saw the picture of your desk and it made me nostalgic for those days when I'd come up and hang out at your office at night with the rest of the "love & pickles" gang! Your jacket on your chair made me miss you...!!! :-( And the rain in London just does not conjure up those same happy feelings that it does in Kuwait. Anyway, Stallion I'll be hitting your blog next!

Alia: I guess she was bored, or too important that she needed to be on the phone while shopping for her Corn Flakes

Judy Abbott: If she was, then I'm glad I went to the other isle before i got to know her Dr. Jekyll/Hyde persona...

Papillona: Aha...I see. talking out of experience are we? hehehehe

anonymous: You mean they were giving the "maskeena" look because you were doing something more contructive like reading and writing, instead of on the mobile? How dumb they are!

and yes...the "love and pickles" gang rock!! Tara it was you who gave us that name...you know that?
