Random Thoughts...yet again!

1) 'Tis the seaon to be bitten...fa la la la la, la la la la! The mosquitos are everywhere and they are out to get you. I have moquito bites everywhere! Itch, itch, itch...scratch, scratch, scratch! Bad idea..i know.

2) I heard the most funniest and actually the most ingenious thing from a co-worker of mine. She claims that a proven way to lose weight is to move to another house. She moved into new apartment a few months ago and she said she lost weight from all the moving activities (packing, carrying boxes, all the running around, errands, unpacking, cleaning, etc). Now she is planning to move again to another place and she is looking forward to it 'cause she knows she's gonna loose more weight. How smart! Another alternative for the gym huh?

3) Remember my post from waaaaaaaaaaaaay back about my freind Nadia Turner, who was in the third season of American Idol. Well now, things are looking very good for her. The show gave her the much deserved exposure she needed to become recognized, even though the did not win. She now has an official webiste (go here). She currently in the studio working in an album due to be released in the summer, and she is also shooting an Independent Film "A Taste of Us". GO Nadia!

4) I need a vaccation!!!! Any suggestions?

5) Speaking of vaccations, I have a business trip to Dubai next month. I know its not considered a vaccation, but I'm gonna take advantage of that Dubai has to offer. The last time I was in Dubai was in 1997!! Damn...has it been that long???

6) Here I am, typing away, and multitasking! I'm writing this post, sending a work e-mail, and my headphones are on, and I am listening to: "Ode to My Family" by The Cranberries.

7) That song for The Cranberries reminds me soooo much of the good old days of high school....the worry-free days of High School back in 1996, 1997...where the only worries I had was: "Will I pass that test?" or "PLEASE GOD, GIVE THE THE STRENGTH TO PLAY THIS VOLLEYBALL GAME AND WIN AGAINST A.S.K!" or "Will my dad give me my allowance for the weekend?". Now my worries are about rent, car payments, visa payments, or "Do I have enough money for Edo tonight?"

8) This is totally beach weather!!! I need get me some new swim shorts! Kubbar here I come!

9) My article about the NEO-SOUL MOVEMENT is just about ready....final touches! It's a follow up to my post (dated March 9, 2006). Stay tuned :)

10) QUOTE OF THE DAY: "A good friend will bail you out of jail. A best friend will be in the next jail cell saying 'That was fucking awesome!'

2) Wow! Seems like she loves it! Seems kinda funny where she loves it but 3aw3aw hates it! :oP He doesn't need to lose wieght though!

3) You go Nadia! A friend of JC's is a friend of mine!

4) I need one too! Cyprus sound good!

5) Be safe and have fun!

6) Isn't multi-tasking fun! If you can get on a role when it comes to multi-tasking it gets to be alot of fun until someone steps in and messes up the concentration! Damn co-workers! :oP

7) I miss high school! I didn't have to worry about relationships, I didn't have to worry about staying fit, I don't have to worry about expenses, soo care free it was amazing! Now it's like can I get this, should I buy that, how much am I actually gonna get when my salary comes in after the bank takes all they want!

8) Damn right! You think we should join Hilton Club? Kubbar is fun but we can't go every weekend!

9) Are you done yet? :oP I want a signed copy! :oP

10) Are you in jail? If so I want in!

2) is she for real!!??

3)best wishes :)

4) Barcelona.

5) Wait till you go ther & you'll notice how much has Dubai changed. My last 3 trips to Dubai were in 1997, Dec2002 and Sep2003. The change I observed between 1997 & Dec2002 is close to the one between Dec200 & Sep2003.
This city is a live example of evolution, watch "Code 46" (a movie) and you'll know what do they think Dubai will be in the future.

7) c'est la vie! 1 hour ago I was calculating how much will be left in my bank account a month from now. Don't you think that we reached a crazy point of spending on everything?

8) can't wait to dip myself!

9) sorry JC, but I read your article in advance, and I found out that I had a mis-conception about Neo-Soul.

8. Is it beach weather already in Kuwait?? Bloody hell, I'm so jealous! Yay...that means if I can come in April I'm gonna get a tan! KUBBAR ALL THE WAY!!! Hmm...I'm not quite ready to stop wearing my Docs though...

9. Hurry up already!! I've written two papers on Arab nationalism in the time it's taken you to write this thing!

10. LOL! In our case, it would be you in one cell, me next door saying how fucking awesome it was, P in the third cell taking a nap, Stallion in the next one still dancing, and S in the last cell throwing up,

Btw, re: your sms this morning (didn't have credits to reply). Hahahahaha!! And the reason you dreamt about the "caramel essence" was because of the story I told you over Christmas about the bitch with the "coffee essence". Don't know where the caramel came from but that was probably your own craving talking! The drink sounds disgusting though (but still not as bad as the 4am chalet concoction)!

Thank GOD!!! I thought we had a serious bug problem in our aparatment! Glad to know the buggers aren't just getting us!

As for beating ASK - seriously? You actually thought you COULD??? How sweet and sad ;) teehee

Dubai - I just do not get the hype. Never liked it, never will. No real culture there. No local flavor. It is all plastic. Even the supposedly great nightlife - I found it very cheesy and seedy... full of people determined to get drunk at any cost and staring at everyone else. Plastic. And the shopping - what shopping??! I did not see anything there that I did not find here. And the modern buildings - ok... they have some good ones, but set in an area that otherwise looks like Hawalli. No planning. And the hotels - yes, they are sensational. But the prices? For those prices I want something besides the hotel - a view of the Med (as opposed to an ocean all dredged up to create Disney-esque islands), a city where I can meet locals and learn about a new culture (none of that in Dubai)... but that's just my take on it :)

Kleio - Your no. 10 had me laughing out loud!

At 10:58 PM, Blogger Kleio said...

Raine: What would you want with the Med when you can have a view of a fake canal surrounded by a shopping mall designed oriental(IST)-style, with nuveau-riche expats stepping off their little gonodolas in high heels and too-much-make-up? Now THAT you just don't get anywhere else in the world!!

V-A-C-A-T-I-O-N = Vacation (a holiday).

V-A-C-C-A-T-I-O-N spells out vaccation, which means nothing in the English language. BUT it kinda reminds me of the word "vaccination". Which did you mean?

p.s: this comment was dedicated to the two women you work with who always fall victims to your corrections of THEIR English.

as we don't say in MY mother tongue...ootsi campot. ciao:P
