Quick Question...

Here I am, it's Wednesday and I am about to leave work, but may a pose a question for ya'll before I leave? I know English is my second language, but graduating from an American High school in Kuwait and going to college in the US, I still have a little problem I always seem to face!!

The Question is....What comes first...The "I" or the "E"?

Meaning: Is it "Beleive" or "Believe"??? And what about if it comes after the letter "C". Is it "Receive" or Recieve?

Forgive my ignorance for posing such an airhead question, but wandering minds wanna know :) I know I can look it up in a dictionary, but I don't have one handy, and....mali khilg!! :P Help enlighten a brother :)

Have a great weekend!

I see sushi in the horizon :)

The poem I remember is:

"i" comes before "e",
except after "c"
and when sounding like "a"
as in weigh or sleigh

I go through the same problem.

Solution #1: Open MS Word and copy paste then F7 for Corrections.

Solution #2: http://www.dictionary.com

Good Luck

Yep, they are all right. Clear as mud now, yeah? Ha ha! Mostly the rhyme posted in comment one works. I still use it all the time. Of course, I'm in the land of free flowing drink and had one to many massive margaritas, so don't listen to me to much this time. Love ya! And love that you care if you spell right... I still have confusion about how to properly pronounce "Shukrun" (spelled as close to phoenetically as I can get at this stage of intoxication). See you in Kuwait in a few days!

scribbler: Good one. thats a new one I heard about words sounding like "A".

Vittorio D'Amore:nothing personal...but come again??

palforce:I usually do the F7 thingy sometimes :)

Reema:Seems we all graduated from private schools in Kuwait and face the same grammer porblems...who knew :)

salted caramel:LOL...i love fact that you choose what "looks" better. Funny

She Writes:that is "weird" and ironic you mentioned that :) Good catch :)

M:You are right...sometimes the English language does not make sense. It's like a person who has a "lisp" cannot pronounce the letter "S", but the word has the letter "s" in it. What is that..torture?

Unknown Entity:Seems u having a blast. Have a drink on me :)

dolphy:7atta ana 3ala 7ad 3elmy...but still face this issue :(

Rampurple:Do I sense an attitude from you? LOL. Glad you liked Wasabi. I personally choose Edo :P
